Three-time Olympian and environmental activist Andrea Mead Lawrence has won many awards. When she invited me into her home for this interview, I was surprised to see no symbols of her many honors. When I ask her why there are no winning photographs on the wall, no Olympic Gold Medals on display, or no framed certificates hung among her nature art she just says, “A person’s most important achievement is the next one.” From her environmental activism and experience as a County Supervisor Andrea has something to say about the role of natural resource professionals in our democratic political processes. As an Olympic ski champion, she also has important advice about achieving personal excellence.
